
Let’s face it: It’s hard to stay in business if you don’t have buying customers. So, try at least one of these simple steps today to get customers fast. Want to turn these customers into raving fans? Keep reading.
- One of the most obvious steps to take is putting your best foot forward (pun intended!) is making sure your store is attractive inside and out, whether online or in person. Add a welcome mat and put your best goods and merchandise up front and on display.
- Hold a flash sale. This would be a limited-time, surprise event that will get customers in the door. Offer a buy-one-get-one free special, or a percentage off everything in the store, or offer something else that makes sense for your business. Promote the sale using email and text messages, or post the sale on your website and social media pages. Emphasize the limited nature of the sale to create urgency.
- If customers purchase products from you online, offer a buy-online, pickup in-store (BOPIS) option. When customers come to collect their order, they almost always browse through other items and frequently end up buying more than they came in for.
- Speaking of acquiring more customers: Make sure new customers can find you by optimizing your business for local search. Get listed in the local business directories, especially Google. Keep your listings updated, and make sure your listing includes the “key words” a customer would use when searching for a store or business like yours.
- Host an in-store event. Depending on your business, the event can be a fashion show, book signing, author reading, youth group, art exhibit or even a live music event. Promote the event in emails, online and on social media. It’s a good way to get more people in the doors, where your welcoming sales staff will make it easy for them to buy.
